I'm back from Portland!
As usual, it was a great trip, I saw Donna and Colin and the kids, ate agreat food and drank great coffee, beer and wine. I also got to have dinner with my friend Paul, who I've known online for years, but never met in person. We had a great time.
And, of course, there's pictures.

Whoops, it's been a month since I updated this thing, not because I haven't been doing anything, but because I've been doing too much.
I spent a few weekends in San Francisco, including my birthday weekend (I'm 39! eek!) where I went to the Napa Valley, saw The Dandy Warhols at the Warfield, ate great food, went to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and had an awesome time.
Everything is great.

I just spent the past weekend with a bunch of my friends on The California Channel Islands (Santa Cruz Island, to be exact.) We spent 3 days camping, kayaking, hiking and having a whole lot of fun. We got to kayak into sea caves, learn about the local Chumash Indians, and learn the history of these amazing islands (and National Park.)
A big thanks to Joey for organizing the trip, and to our guide, Tom from Southwind Kayak Center, for showing us a great time.

I just got back from 4 days in Montréal where I visited my mom for her birthday!
While I was there, we...
- Walked all over the city, including to The Olympic Stadium, The Old Port and to the top of Mont Royal
- Rode our bikes all the way down the Lachine Canal to the Saint Lawrence River
- Saw live music at the Les FrancoFolies de Montréal
- Ate game meats and mussels with my friend Angelo
- Had a brilliant dinner at Au Pied De Cochon for my mom's birthday
- Basically had a great time and ate phenomenal food the whole time.
It was a great visit, and it was extra special to see my mom on her actual birthday.

There is so much good music out right now that it's driving me crazy!
There are phenomenal new albums out right now from My Morning Jacket, Beck, Spiritualized, Death Cab For Cutie and Cut Copy. Plus, I have discovered a bunch of great bands like MGMT, M83, Head Like a Kite, The Helio Sequence and Vampire Weekend. Not to mention new albums by The Dandy Warhols and Okkervil River, coming out in the next few months.
Anyone who tells you that there is no good music out these days isn't listening.
And, I'm going to Montréal next week! My mom has been living in Québec this summer, so, I'm going up there to see her for her birthday, and to see one of my favorite cities again, I can't wait!

I just got back from an amazing weekend up in the Eastern Sierra and Mono lake with Dad, Joan, Branden, Ian, Reiko and Aila. We camped on Lee Vining Creek, took a canoe trip on Mono Lake, hiked on Tioga Pass and in Lundy Canyon. We also ate amazing food, saw amazing beauty and had a great time.
And, of course, I took pictures.

I'm heading up to The Bay Area this weekend to see Death Cab For Cutie at The Greek Theater in Berkeley. This will be my fifth time seeing them, and The Greek Theater is one of my all-time favorite venues, it also happens to be where my high school graduation was!
And, the new Death Cab album "Narrow Stairs" is really good, you should pick it up.
Also, if I'm lucky, maybe I'll get to see the crazy tree people! My home town never fails to entertain.

I don't normally use off-the-shelf code on this site, as I like to write stuff from scratch. But, Slimbox is simply a phenomenal gallery script that was too good not to use! You can see it in action in all the latest photo galleries, and, I plan on rolling it out on the older galleries in the next week or so.
I've also discovered a ton of new music, like Walter Meego, M83, MGMT, Beirut and more. You can check it all out in the music section.

I'm in Portland right now, and, it's awesome! It may be gray and raining, but, I've been eating great food, hanging out in a beautiful city and drinking strong coffee. Before this, I was in Seattle, where I went to Bainbridge Island and saw my oldest friend Robert's mom, who lives there now, had more great food, and took in amazing scenery. And, before that, I was at the Sasquatch Festival where I saw incredible performances by The Flaming Lips, The Cure, Okkervil River and more!
It's been a great trip, going home is going to be difficult.
